The font is a stone bath in which children and adults are Baptised. Baptism is the sacrament, the sign by which we make our entrance into membership of the church. Someone Baptised here becomes a member of the worldwide fellowship of Christian people called the Christian Church. When this church was first built in 1840 the Font stood near the main door. When the church was extended in 1909 it was moved into the north corner. In 2002 it was moved to its present position to be more visible, and to create more useable space in the narthex, (the space at the back of the church).
Pause to think about your own Baptism and your own commitment to Christ and his church, and pray for all who are baptised, that we may live the life of faith.
